Music as a cultural ecosystem –memories, emotions and sensations

Miami, FL- Feel My Voice –concert, master classes and panel discussion presenting Arlin live in concert, on Saturday, June 15th at 8pm at the Koubek Center of Miami Dade College. Master classes and panel on Sunday, June 16th starting at 2pm.

Feel My Voice project becomes a space to explore music and cultural meaning. Music is a peculiar lens into cultural identity, a universal language that gives depth to our experience across nationalities. The listening, creating and thinking about music creates feelings of belonging. It also changes the world, through massively overlapping cultural borders and fusions are born. Feel My Voice is the transmission process for live music enthusiast, families and friends enjoying a taste of our fusion –America imbued with jazz, funk, pop and salsa, boleros, son and we do so in community.

Feel My Voice is a two-day program consisting of a concert by Cuban singer and composer Arlin, known for her ability to sing in five different languages as well as the ability to blend contemporary and world music elements into a unique style of music composition and Latin Grammy-nominated artist Michele Gonzalez for his work as arranger, producer and guitarist on Jesus Hidalgo’s “Para Ser Un Sol.” Workshops feature the use of the elements of music (lyrics, tone, and beats, etc.), and improvisational techniques to evoke desired emotions, feelings, and sensations and communicating it through the medium. The program culminates with a panel discussion with female-identified musicians, industry professionals, and psychologists.

Dubbed “the Queen of the Nights” by El Nuevo Herald, Arlinnes (Arlin) Alvarez, known for her vibrancy and versatility including her ability to sing in 5 different languages and to blend contemporary and world music elements into a very unique style is joined on stage by Michel Gonzalez (Born in Venezuela and raised in Spain) is a virtuoso guitarist, composer, arranger and educator. Concert will feature songs from her latest albums Greenlight and Ave Pasajera.

Feel My Voice program will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, and Sunday, June 16, 2019, at 8 pm at Miami Dade College’s Koubeck Center. The program will consist of a live two-hour musical performance on Saturday by Arlin featuring original compositions, reinterpreted themes, and audience participatory songs. Tickets for the concert are $20 with discounts for seniors, students, and military of $15. Free on Sunday, two master classes will be held at 2 pm and 3:30 pm followed by panel discussion at 5 pm.
